About this tool
Calculate the Right Lot Size for Your Forex Trade
The Forex Lot Size Calculator helps traders determine an appropriate position size
based on account balance, maximum acceptable risk, and stop-loss distance. It shows
the calculated lot size, number of currency units, pip value, and total money at risk.
How the Lot Size Calculation Works
Enter your account balance, select a currency pair, specify your stop loss in pips,
and choose how much you are prepared to risk. Risk can be entered as a percentage of
your account or as a fixed monetary amount.
Position units = Risk amount ÷ (Stop loss in pips × Pip value per unit)
The calculated units are then divided by the instrument’s contract size to determine
the final lot size.

Why Position Sizing Matters
Position sizing is an important part of forex risk management. Using a consistent
risk limit can help traders avoid taking positions that are too large relative to
their account balance. The calculator makes this relationship easier to understand
before a trade is opened.
